Start the day with the mountain
Complimentary morning yoga on the lawn — beginner-friendly, unhurried, and the quietest class you'll take all year. A small reason guests in Kasauli and Solan keep returning to Windmill Inn for second and third stays.
There's a quiet to early mornings at Windmill Inn that's hard to describe. The valley is still half-asleep, the café hasn't started pouring yet, and the only sound is the breeze moving through the deodars. This is when we roll out the mats on the lawn.
Our morning yoga sessions are gentle, unhurried, and designed for everyone — guests who've never attempted a downward dog, regulars who practice at home, families with teenagers, solo travellers easing out of city rhythms. You don't need to be flexible. You don't need your own gear. You just need to show up.
Mountain air at this altitude changes how the practice feels. Lungs fill a little deeper. The sun rises slowly over the ridge while you move. Some mornings, if the weather cooperates, the mist is still rolling through the valley below and you'll find yourself practising above the clouds — one of those small, ridiculous privileges of staying high up in Himachal.
Sessions run about an hour — closer to 45 minutes if the group is small, longer if the mood's right. We keep it complimentary for all guests: it's part of the stay, not a paid add-on. The only ask is that you let us know the evening before so we can have mats and the lawn ready for you.
This is the one logistical ask. Tell us at dinner, over WhatsApp, or when you check in — just so we know to prep the lawn and have the mats out. Guests who forget to mention it can still join, but we may not be set up.
If you're building a wellness getaway from Delhi or Chandigarh or just want a reason to actually use your mornings on holiday, this is the one thing we'd recommend not skipping.
